Time Management for Mompreneurs: Stewarding Your Time for What Matters Most
You cannot do everything with the hours you’ve been given, and that’s exactly why stewardship matters. Learn how to clarify what deserves your time, take the next step forward, and create diligent flow without relying on a perfectly curated schedule.
Time Management for Mompreneurs: Stewarding Your Time for What Matters Most
Time is a limited resource.
You only have so much of it, and you cannot do everything you could possibly do with the hours you’ve been given.
As Christian mompreneurs, how we use that limited resource matters because we’re stewarding multiple roles, responsibilities, and assignments at the same time.
That’s why stewardship matters.
The goal isn’t to somehow find enough time to do everything. It’s to get clear on what God has actually called you to steward in this season and learn to use the time you do have effectively.
Because when everything is important, nothing is.
Leadership requires us to decide what deserves our time, give those things our attention, and be willing to let some other things wait.
This is what I call diligent flow.
Leading your time doesn’t mean having a perfectly curated schedule. It means owning how you utilize your resources and being fully present in the moment itself.
You are disciplined in the areas that are non-negotiables and in the flow, pivoting with areas where you need more grace.
For me, all of my time is built around my values. They are the guiding direction for how I decide what deserves my attention and what doesn’t.
So I want you to consider one impactful question as you read this:
What did you do with the time that God gave you?
Prefer to listen? This post is based on this week’s episode of Fun, Free & Flowing™, where I’m unpacking how to take ownership of your time, steward it well, and operate in diligent flow. Listen to the episode here.
A quick note before we dive in: My Anniversary Sale is happening now through Friday, September 25. You can grab up to three 1:1 coaching sessions with me at a deeply discounted price. If you already know there’s an area of your life or business where you need clarity and support, you can find all the details here.
Take Ownership of the Time God Has Given You
I want to convict you to wake up and stop floating through life.
It’s time to take ownership over the time God has given you, walk in that authority, surrender the outcomes, and move forward in confidence.
God is providing. God is protecting. It’s up to you to steward as the good and faithful servant.
Stop giving the enemy a foothold over how you spend your days through mindlessly scrolling, living in anxiety and fear, being overwhelmed by everything, or overthinking every action step you take.
In Isaiah 41:10, we are reminded of who God is:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
No matter what you are going through, it is not bigger than our God.
I want you to be able to look at your life and say it is Fun, Free & Flowing™. And time is foundational to that.
We all want to have fun. We all want and desire freedom. We want the flexibility that comes with the flow.
But for many of us, we feel burdened, enslaved to demands, and constantly pivoting with no real progress.
Here’s the picture I want you to paint for yourself:
Your life can be Fun. You can be fully present and enjoy the moment.
Your life can be Free. You can be released from the burden of carrying it all with perfection.
Your life can be Flowing. You can pivot and walk in grace, knowing you are focused on what’s most important.
We aren’t seeking perfection. We are seeking to be fully present.
Why Do We Struggle With Time?
Ultimately, it comes down to clarity, or a lack thereof.
Clarity of expectations.
Clarity of what’s actually important.
Clarity of our reality.
Clarity on the next simple steps to move forward.
It’s not always spiritual warfare. Sometimes it’s your own lack of discipline and clarity on moving forward.
When we lack clarity, everything feels heavier, more burdensome, and impossible to achieve.
As moms, we naturally take on too much and then feel guilty when we cannot complete everything. We are setting ourselves up for failure.
Understanding our values is a great place to start reprioritizing. The goal is to be very clear on what we need to accomplish and set realistic boundaries around it.
We also struggle with time because we aren’t keeping track and reconciling what has been done with what we still want to accomplish.
We feel defeated because we didn’t accomplish everything we wanted, when really we need to look at what has been accomplished to help us understand how to continue forward.
Lastly, we struggle with time because we let chaos rule instead of our systems.
How we bookend our days is powerful. Our routines help us create the structure we need to move forward in our mornings and evenings while still allowing room for life to happen.
What Does God Say About Our Time?
God has given you specific tasks to own and is calling on you to honor them well.
Psalm 90:12 says:
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
Time is fleeting. Nothing lasts forever, the struggle nor the successes.
So whatever God gave you, walk in peace and appreciation.
Philippians 4:11 calls us to be content in all circumstances, but that doesn’t mean we are passive. We are still called to be diligent and dutiful with this time while having grace.
You don’t “need” more time. You need to steward what you’ve been given and the roles you’ve been given effectively.
Ephesians is my favorite book in the Bible because it’s packed with our identity in Christ, how we are called to operate in unity, and the spiritual warfare we are called to be equipped for.
Ephesians 5:15-16 says:
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
We are called to walk in the will of the LORD. For each of us, that will look different based on the assignments He has given us.
But the perfect place to start is our values and what God has called us to steward well and honor.
This verse is not passive.
It is diligent, intentional, and confident.
So how do we put this into practical application?
Step 1: Establish Your Clarity
When we have clarity, we can establish movement forward.
Many of my clients feel stuck when they are unsure what’s really going on, so establishing your clarity must come first in order to create an action plan.
Start by answering:
Where do I feel most stuck or overwhelmed with my time?
Then follow that up with:
What is the real issue here?
Is there a value you aren’t spending any time on?
Are you having a hard time prioritizing?
Did you say yes to too many things?
Are you not following through with the things you are committing to?
Do you look at your schedule and stall?
Do you simply not know what you are supposed to be doing?
When I first became a business owner while being a mom, I realized I was paralyzed with all the to-do’s.
For me, the first step forward was writing all of my priorities down and then looking to the list to guide me.
Really spending some time on these questions will help you move forward easier.
Clarity is powerful, so don’t feel ashamed of what comes up here. We are gaining clarity in order to move forward and make changes.
Step 2: Establish a First Step Forward
Once you understand the real issue, the next question is:
What is the first step out of this situation?
You don’t need perfect, ideal conditions to move forward.
Sometimes you just need to decide to make a change and start with one tiny step, one small habit. This creates a compound effect over time.
I didn’t just start out reading several chapters in my Bible each day. I started small.
I didn’t just start out fully homeschooling my kids while running a business. I created the shift.
I didn’t just dive in full force on my health journey. I started with the smallest habits no one would even notice.
This isn’t all-or-nothing.
It’s starting, honoring a commitment, and making it a part of who you are. That’s the strongest leadership quality someone can have.
Strong leaders don’t have the perfect schedule. They just know how to lead through the chaotic moments well.
Maybe you need to prepare the night before. I always prep my homeschool the night before to help create smooth transitions in the morning. I also set up what work I need to accomplish the next day so I have the least resistance getting it done.
Maybe you need to reset some of your priorities or commitments.
Remember, if everything is important, then nothing is. This is where we need to get realistic with the amount of time we have and honor our main priorities fully before we add anything else.
Or maybe you need to be realistic about the amount of time you set aside for something. I always add buffer time to things I do to make sure I am accounting for mishaps or for times when I’m unsure how long something will take.
Step 3: Act, Track and Check
Once you’ve gotten clear and decided on your next step forward, you have to actually pay attention to what happens next.
You don’t just make a plan and hope it works.
Leaders act, track and check.
What did I actually follow through on?
Where did my time go?
What kept getting pushed aside?
What worked well?
What needs to change moving forward?
This is definitely not about keeping score so you can beat yourself up over what you didn’t accomplish. It’s a practice that gives you enough awareness to lead yourself well.
Five years ago when I was writing my first book, I realized most of us had a hard time conceptualizing what needed to be accomplished and realistically making a plan to move forward.
This creates that analysis paralysis we hear about.
In our society today, we are inundated with so much information, content, and noise that somewhere along the way we decided passively moving through our days was going to help keep us alive.
We shut down.
But now it’s time to wake up, take ownership over our time and lives, and move forward.
This Is Why I Created the Power of 6®
The Power of 6® methodology is simple, effective, and a tangible resource for you to see your priorities and execute in the simplest way possible.
Leaders know AND do, and the Power of 6® allows you to quickly distinguish your Top Values and the action steps to move them into alignment in your life.
Within your Power of 6®, you can set up your time based on your Top 5 values. This allows you to honor each role in your life as buckets of time versus blocks or a perfect schedule.
This is that diligent flow we’ve been talking about.
It’s not about a perfect schedule. It’s about being able to easily discern what’s a top priority and move forward efficiently through it.
It’s not quantity of time, but quality of time. You get to decide how you want to utilize 12 productive hours in a day in the way that’s most effective for you.
Leaders track and check, and that helps us stay on top of what areas need our most diligent time and effort.
It’s not about keeping it all on your mental load. It’s about keeping a good record and referring to that record.
I have a lot of people ask how I carry so many roles effectively.
It’s because my tracking and checking is optimized to my priorities.

Clarity Creates Movement
First, gain clarity so you can figure out where the real issue is regarding your time.
Then establish the steps forward you are going to commit to.
Then act, track, and check so you can continue to adjust while honoring what matters most.
That is how you begin to lean into diligent flow.
And sometimes, the fastest way forward is having someone help you see what you can’t see on your own, process it out loud, get feedback, and get clear on your next move.
That’s why I’m excited that my Anniversary Sale is officially LIVE.
From Monday, September 21 through Friday, September 25, you can grab up to three 1:1 coaching sessions with me at a deeply discounted price and use them to work through whatever is keeping you stuck.
